Don’t Believe Your Friends and Colleagues

So the picture is this:  Your practice seems to be in a slump for the last couple of months, and of course you try this and try that and nothing seems to bring the numbers back up.  Then you start to wonder if it is “the recession” or some kind of temporary economic “down turn” or the “weather” or … or … or…

Then a bright idea strikes you:  I’ll call some of my friends and colleagues in the area and see if they too are experiencing a down trend.  And lo and behold, you actually hear from your friends that they too are having a slow period.  What happens next is the dangerous part.

You all go into AGREEMENT with the WRONG REASON for your statistics being down.  This is a BIG MISTAKE, because in actual fact, each practice is down for a very exact reason internally and there is SOMETHING you CAN DO about it to get a roaring success going again.

Case in point:  In the early 1990’s we had a serious recession and of course a large percentage of practices suffered from this … until they met with us and decided to do something about it and became a client of ours.  Then their stats went up usually $10,000 to $30,000 per month. DURING THE SEVERE RECESSION WE WERE IN!

The truth of the matter is that your production (which results in your bottom line) is done inside your practice with the systems and structure that you know.  When those systems are not sufficient to overcome external difficulties, then you need to learn new and better ways of doing things.

You know the Definition of Insanity, right?  “Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.”  Therefore, the answer to lack of growth is lack of knowledge of better ways to do things.
