Two scenarios:
1: Boss comes in and is told that there are two cancellations in his afternoon schedule. He immediately gets angry and says, “Just great, another bad day,” to the staff at large and stomps off to his office and shuts the door.
2: Boss comes in and is told that there are two cancellations in his afternoon schedule. He says to the staff, “I know you can handle this by calling the Short List and filling in the spots. You guys are great at this! Just as a side note, be sure everyone else has been confirmed for all the other appointments today too, and we will have a GREAT DAY!” And he walks away with a smile on his face and confidence in his team.
A positive mental attitude always wins in the long run. Have you ever noticed that when one of the staff is feeling down, it can bring others around her or him down? Negativity is a sneaky thief and can steal away a potentially good day.
This morning I made a motto for myself: “Nothing but good today!” I immediately started looking forward to having a really great day and have been smiling non stop. At our morning meeting, I got all my staff’s agreement on the motto and it started us off on our day with smiles on our faces and a positive mental attitude.
And good things have been happening as a result!
