Which of these five statements do you believe are true?
- My business rises and falls based on the economy.
- My success is largely determined by luck.
- The weather influences my numbers hugely.
- I believe in fate and whatever happens, happens.
- My income controls me more than I control it.
Of course, all of these statements are false. YOU are the one who CONTROLS your success.
One way to control your pay and your future is with statistics. We have noticed in consulting over 1,400 healthcare professionals that those who track and USE their statistics to make positive changes, take home more pay and have less stress. These should be kept on graphs for a visual look at your progress towards your goals.
When we say “statistics,” here are a few examples: billings, collections, # of new patients/clients, expenses, marketing, and so on. Every valuable activity can be represented by a number. These stats should be tabulated and evaluated on a weekly basis. Daily can be a bit microscopic, whereas a month is a bit too late.
When a stat is down for the week, you want to immediately investigate WHY and handle the situation so it does not repeat, EVER.
Similarly, when a stat goes up for the week, you want to immediately investigate to find the actual reason and then repeat whatever successful action was isolated. Be sure to really look closely and find the REAL reason, not someone’s “guess.”
You can’t “take control” of a practice without finding out what works and what doesn’t. When it is under control, you can then have such things as bonus systems.
Try it, you just might like feeling more in control and less stressed!
WE OFFER TWO COURSES ON MANAGING BY STATISTICS WHICH BRING THE WHOLE SUBJECT UNDER YOUR CONTROL.
