Overcoming Tiredness

In an era marred by an invisible war – where tales of fear, scarcity and uncertainty are a routine occurrence – it’s not surprising that a pervasive sense of tiredness has infiltrated our daily lives and practices.

How do we transform life’s chaos into a clear path forward – gaining the strength to rise above challenging circumstances and shape our own destiny? What is the key to creating the future we want despite the bad news in the world all around us?

Step 1:

The first thing to consider in order to sort this out is to notice when you are feeling the most hopeless or tired. What are you doing at that time? Who are you with?  And then look at the opposite side of the picture:  When do you feel the most energy and what are you doing at that time and who are you with?

If you compare those two opposites, perhaps you will find that the things you have the most energy for and that excite you the most are things that you know how to do really well or that are fresh and interesting to you. Or perhaps it is the people you are with.   Therefore, you feel energized and motivated.

On the other side of it, when you feel most tired, what is happening?  Are there people around you at those times who are downers or lack drive and initiative, and their lack of motivation is washing over onto you?  Is everything a fight when you are around them?

Step 2:

Taking the lack of energy side first, write down who and what is making you tired.  Do you actually need to be part of that scene?  If it is a person or a couple of people who are constantly bad news, angry, and fighting everyone around them, perhaps you should consider isolating yourself from them.  Do you try to help them but they refuse your help? Are they making you feel bad about what you are doing and about life?

If yes, perhaps you should avoid them.

Step 3:

Look at ideas and projects and activities that inspire you to want to get up and get going.  Make a list of people you would prefer to hang out with who are creative, energetic, “always into something passionately, and who are supportive of you and your interests.  Make a list.  You will feel the difference almost immediately.

Bottom Line:

Break agreement with the bad news side of the world and get up off the couch and get going.  Do volunteer work to help others.  Study something new and interesting.  Do something to make the world a better place.  Be one of the upscale, uplifting people of the world!
