Dear Fellow Denturists,
Before I started with AMI, I frequently found myself overworked, understaffed and lacking the basic abilities of what an executive should be. In the first consultation, I said, “I feel like I’ve hit a ceiling and can’t go any higher by myself.”
Knowing what I know now, I’ve realized that that ceiling was a self-imposed ceiling … a ceiling of chaos. AMI’s executive consulting and training program has given me the ability to manage people better. I’ve learned how to properly hire people, how to spread responsibilities out among my employees … how to give them their responsibilities.
As I have learned how to run the business better, we’ve seen huge financial gains. A funny thing we’ve noticed when we have our meetings as an office is that the less chaos and the slower things feel, these are actually the months where we financially have done the best. It generally means when we reviewed things that there was less chaos within the clinic, all the policies were being followed, and everyone knew their responsibilities. And it has led to a much happier clinic.
When you look at the growth of the clinic from 2016 to 2017, by the end of this December we will have had a 50% increase over what we did last year. That’s a real exciting thing! It takes a lot of pressure off when you know that you don’t have to watch month to month to see how things are going. A 50% increase in Year One (of working with AMI) is pretty exciting! We’ll see what we can do in Year 2!
For me, I found that the biggest benefit of doing the AMI program was having more time to talk to my wife. And she’s been sharing with our colleagues that she enjoys the fact that I can now take my daughter to school; whereas before AMI, I quite regularly went to work at 4:30 a.m., got home at 5:30 p.m., had supper, and not necessarily always fall asleep on the couch but felt that I lacked the energy to do the basic functions of being a dad. So it’s been nice just knowing that I can wake up with the kids, take my daughter to school, drop them off to the babysitter, pick them up after school, and have lunch.
The freedom given me time-wise has, for me, been the biggest gain quality of life-wise … knowing that my business doesn’t run me anymore. I can now run my business AND enjoy my family.
